Caption:
This historic image depicted a storefront that was displaying public service announcements, and other publications regarding the topic of child health. The photographic setting was listed as New Hampshire, and was one of a historical collection of images devoted to observances of Child Health Day in the United States. Starting May 1, 1924, May Day was designated Child Health Day in the United States, and its territories. Awareness of child health in America was stimulated, by the plight of refugee children during World War One (1914-1918). The American Child Health Association, which started the observance, was founded in 1923, when the Child Health Organization and the American Child Hygiene Association merged.
