Used in a 1940s health campaign, this poster was directed at soldiers during World War II, urging servicemen to avoid visiting “Houses of Ill-Fame”, so as to not contract sexually transmitted diseases This was one of many public health posters from World War II, warning soldiers against contracting venereal diseases. Its use of images, rather than text alone, was an extremely powerful tool in the fighting the spread of V.D. not only among the military, but in the United States as well.
