This 1971 photograph depicted meeting attendees gathered at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Surveillance Course for the Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO) fellows. The course was held in the CDC’s Atlanta offices from April 5, through December 10, 1971. Seated around the table (left to right) was Dr. Juan Jose Arredondo, PAHO Fellow, Peru; Dr. Arturo Romero, PAHO Fellow, Guatemala; Dr. Joaquin Salcedo, PAHO Fellow, Bolivia; Dr. Alfonso Holguin, CDC, Director Training Program; and Dr. David Sencer, CDC Director. Along the wall facing the camera was Dr. George Berg, Chief, Health Professional Section, Training Program, and A.E. Najjar, Chief, Office of International Services. On the extreme left, with his back to the camera, was Dr. Alfredo Arreaza Guzman, Assistant Director, PAHO.
