This 1976 photograph showed the exterior fuselage of a C-141 jet that was used to transport the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) mobile quarantine facility (MQF), see PHIL ID# 7234. The MQF was to be used for medical evacuations when patients needed to be treated in an airtight compartment, while being transported, in order to contain a disease agent. In 1975, a C-141 aircraft was used during the medical evacuation of the Lassa fever patient Kent Campbell, MD, MPH, from London, and transported him within the MQF to New York City.
