This 1976 photograph showed the loading device that was used to move the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) mobile quarantine facility (MQF), on and off of its transport aircraft. In order to move the MQF isolation unit, i.e., see PHIL ID# 7234, this loader had to accompany the unit inside the aircraft, and was loaded last. The only plane big enough to transfer both pieces of equipment at the time was a C-141 jet. In 1975, this aircraft was used during the medical evacuation of the Lassa fever patient Kent Campbell, MD, MPH, from London, and transported him within the MQF to New York City.
