Entitled, “Foundry Worker, Philippines”, this photograph depicts a foundry worker as he pours molten iron into sand molds in the Philippines. The worker participated in an industrial hygiene sampling course taught by Aaron Sussell, MPH, CIH, with the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), who was the photographer. Aaron’s image, which was part of a photo essay entitled, “NIOSH: Philippines and Mexico”, earned him Second Place, in the 2005 CDC Connects Annual Public Health in Action Photo Contest.
