Description:Caption:
This 1998 photograph showed individuals within a foundry factory, who took part in a 1998 hands-on industrial hygiene sampling course in Manila, Philippines. Wearing a breathing mask (Lt), a Department of Labor and Employment inspector was overseeing the workflow, as he adjusted an air sampling pump attached to a foundry worker, who was pushing a large metal bucket of super-heated fuel. The course was co-taught by a National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) industrial hygienist, and a Harvard University doctoral student, and was sponsored by the International Labour Organization (ILO). This was one in a series of NIOSH images regarding air-sampling techniques, (see PHIL ID#’s: 6796 -6802).
