Description:Caption:
This 1980 photograph depicts a DC-3 aircraft that was being used in the dispersal of ultra-low volume (ULV) insecticidal fog, in order to control populations of potential insect disease vectors, during an outbreak of Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE), which took place in Michigan. The use of spray planes such as this DC-3, and even helicopters, is an excellent way in which an insecticidal fog may be dispersed over, and in close proximity to, insect-vector habitats that the insecticide must cover, and with which it must remain in contact in order to kill, or ward off such arboviral hosts.
