This image depicts a gross section of liver tissue, harvested from a child who had succumbed to a fatal case of Reye's syndrome. The cut surface of this gross autopsy liver specimen, displayed a slight pallor, which was due to fat accumulation in the liver cells, also known as histiocytes.
