This photograph depicts a close right lateral view of a patient’s glans penis, revealing the presence of a cutaneous lesion that was determined to be granuloma inguinale, also referred to as genital ulcerative disease, or Donovanosis. Granuloma inguinale is a sexually transmitted disease. It is a slowly progressive ulcerative condition of the skin and lymphatics of the genital, and perianal area, caused by the Gram-negative bacterium, Klebsiella granulomatis formerly Calymmatobacterium granulomatis.
