Caption:
This image depicts a left anterior-oblique view of a patient’s face, highlighting the erythematous reaction, which took place 24-hours after having received a Hymenoptera sting in the region of his left eye. Wasp and bee venoms, though not identical, in general contain a number of compounds including histamine releasing factors, biogenic enzymes, and polypeptide toxins, which cause localized, and systemic allergic and inflammatory reactions.
