Caption:
This image depicts a collection of bumblebee specimens, Bombus impatiens, all viewed from their right lateral perspective, and collected in the early 1950s in Ithaca, New York. B. impatiens bees are sometimes used to enhance agricultural crop yields through their ability to improve a crop’s natural pollination process. When the nectar per crop is quantitatively low, sugar water is used to supplement the bees’ food source.
