This image depicts a dorsal view of a worker honeybee, Apis mellifera, an arthropod with three pairs of jointed legs. As a colony member, the worker bee provides the majority of work in the hive, including building the honeycomb, using wax produced by glands located on its abdomen. They also tend each cell’s developing occupants, from the eggs, to the larvae, and final to the immature bees.
