Description:This AP chest x-ray revealed a right pulmonary arterial embolism (PE), and a pulmonary infarct (PI) distal to the blockage.
Note the radiolucency produced by the more dense pulmonary embolism (labeled PE), and just distal, i.e. further to the left, note the infarct located in the right lung base (labeled PI), representing ischemic lung tissue due to the blockage.
