This anterior-posterior (AP) chest x-ray revealed the presence of a right pulmonary arterial embolism, labeled PE, and a pulmonary infarct, labeled PI. Note the radiolucency produced by the denser pulmonary embolism, and just distal to the blockage, or further to the left, you will note the infarct located in the right lung base, representing ischemic lung tissue.
