This image depicts a close intraoral view of a HIV/AIDS-positive patient, who had presented with labial and gingival Kaposi’s sarcoma, secondary to his AIDS infection, which included the maxilla. In approximately 7.5-10 percent of AIDS patients display signs of oral Kaposi’s sarcoma, and can range in appearance from small asymptomatic growths that are flat purple-red in color, to larger nodular growths.
