This photograph depicts a dorsal view of a nymph-staged North American soft tick from the genus, Otobius with its spiny integument. During their nymphal stage, Otobius ticks are commonly found in the ears of horses, cattle, deer and rabbits, but as adults, these ticks are not parasitic, remaining hidden in their environment.
