Description:This is a nymph-staged North American soft tick from the genus Otobius with its spiny integument.
During their nymphal stage, soft ticks that are members of the genus Otobius, are commonly found in the ears of horses, cattle, deer and rabbits, but as adults these ticks are not parasitic, remaining hidden in their environment.
