Description:This is a nymph-staged North American soft tick from the genus Otobius with its spiny integument.
The adult soft ticks of the genus Otobius are rarely seen, for they are not parasitic, and therefore, do not reside on the body of a host, but rather stays hidden in the environment prior to mating.
