Description:This is a member of the Argasidae family of North American “soft ticks”, and is a member of the genus Argus.
The family Argasidae is divided into four genera: Argas, Ornithodoros, Antricola, and Otobius. This member of the Argas genus displays a definite ridge, or “sutural” line around the margin of the body.
