This photograph depicts a close dorsal view of a member of the Argasidae family of North American soft ticks, as well as a member of the genus, Argas. This tick’s mouthparts are not visible from this dorsal perspective. Argas members displays a definite ridge, known as the sutural line, running around their body’s perimeter.
