Description:Caption:
This image was acquired in 1968 during Niger's Smallpox Eradication Program. The photograph depicts Don Moore, MD, a member of the Niger Smallpox Eradication Prospection Team, describing the mechanics of a Ped-O-Jet® jet injector to a local Nigerien man. The invention of the foot-powered jet injector by Aaron Ismach, a civilian in the U.S. Defense Department, gave prospective team members greater field mobility, for the device was not dependent on electricity.
