Description:This is a detailed view of The Plague, a wax relief sculpture by the 17th Italian artist Gaetano Zumbo, (1656 – 1701).
Gaetano Zumbo sculpted his human figures in wax, as he’d done here in this detailed view of The Plague, which depicts the horrors that this epidemic inflicted upon Italy, whereupon, so many died so quickly that proper burials were not possible.
