This digitally colorized transmission electron micrographic (TEM) image reveals some of the ultrastructural morphology exhibited by numerous La Cross virus (LCV) paticles, a Bunyaviridae virus family member. LCV is an Arboviral pathogen, which causes encephalitis in infected humans, and is transmitted to humans when they are bitten by a mosquito host vector such as the tree hole mosquito, Ochlerotatus triseriatus.
