This female Cambodian patient presented with a distended abdomen, due to a hepatoma resulting from a chronic hepatitis B viral (HBV) infection. The incidence of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in patients with a hepatitis-B infection is 12-300 times greater. The HBV DNA is incorporated into the hepatocytic DNA during the disease’s pathogenic process.
