This 1981 photograph highlights an area, where volcanic ash was collected for a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) study after the 1980, Mount St. Helens volcanic eruption. The CDC funded, and assisted in a series of studies, on the health effects of the post-eruption consequences of volcanic dust inhalation.
