This photograph depicts a close medial view of the medial ankle region of a patient’s left foot, revealing the presence of what turned out to be a number of Kaposi's sarcoma lesions. In recent years, the vast majority of cases of Kaposi’s sarcoma are found in patients with acquired immune deficiency syndrome, or AIDS. The most common site for KS is on the skin but it may also affect internal organs, particularly the lymph nodes, the lungs and digestive system.
