This photograph depicts a view of a patient’s left torso, revealing the presence of a generalized rash on the side of his chest, due to a case of pityriasis rosea, a harmless, yet itchy, scaly skin disease often found in people 10–35 years of age. Initially, most people develop one large scaly herald patch (see PHIL 5505), and within 1-2 weeks, smaller pink patches can occur on the trunk, arms and legs.
