Description:The 1964 EIS trip to East Pakistan, known as Bangladesh after 1971, featured travel on a hospital boat, the "Joseph E. Smadel."
The Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS), established in 1951, quickly became the Nation's, and world's response team for a wide range of health emergencies. Its young, energetic medical officers make house calls around the world.
