This 1976 image depicts the pooling of irrigation “tailwater” at the edge of what was a Wyoming pasture. Tailwater is the excess water, which runs off of an irrigated field that is being cultivated. With a tendency to collect in pools, the tailwater must be monitored in order to prevent it from becoming a breeding ground for mosquito vectors.
