This photograph depicts a trail of coyote, Canis latrans, tracks that were found in an Estes Park, Colorado campground during a plague and tick fever study. These studies were conducted to help determine, which areas have hosts and vectors infected with dangerous pathogens. Controlling wild animals, as well as their fleas and ticks, around places where people live, work and play, is important in preventing the spread of human pathogens.
