This photograph depicts an excised, mature Taenia saginata tapeworm, which is a parasitic cestode organism. The length of this type of adult cestode usually measure 5-meters, or less, however, it may reach up to 25-meters. Note the segmentation is comprised of contiguous strobila, with each segment being capable of budding, or replication of yet another duplicate proglottid.
