Caption:
This photomicrograph reveals ultrastructural details exhibited by an ovum, which being indistinguishable, could have been produced by either a Taenia saginata, or Taenia solium tapeworm. The eggs of both T. saginata and T. solium are rounded, or subspherical, with a thick, radially striated brown shell. The diameter ranges from 31µm to 43µm. Contained inside each embryonated ovum, is an oncosphere, or larva with 6 hooks.
