This was the cover of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) publication, Emerging Infectious Diseases (EID), Volume 9, Number 5, May 2003 issue. The cover artwork entitled, “Icarus”, was included in the illustrated book, “Jazz”, which was published in 1947, by E. Tériade. The painting was created by Henri Matisse (1869–1954).
