This image depicts a close view of a male patient’s glans penis that exhibited an ulcerative lesion, diagnosed as a condition known as granuloma inguinale, but due to its appearance, initially appeared to be a case of carcinoma. Granuloma inguinale, also known as donovanosis, is a sexually transmitted disease caused by the bacterium, Klebsiella granulomatis, formerly Calymmatobacterium granulomatis.
