This photomicrograph of an unidentified tissue specimen, reveals the histopathologic chronic inflammatory changes associated with a case of paracoccidioidomycosis, caused by the fungal organism, Paracoccidioides brasiliensis. The disease usually begins in the lungs, and may spread to other body regions including the skin and mucous membranes. For another view of this sample under a greater magnification, see PHIL 4290.
