This historic 1961 photograph depicted a number of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) graphic designers, who were at work in what had been the organization’s Graphic Arts Office. Graphic designers, or medical illustrators, are often called upon to create visual aids to accompany television broadcasts, slide presentations, and textual documents that promote CDC’s mission to promote public health awareness.
