This is a photomicrograph of a nasal tissue specimen, and revealed histopathologic changes, which had been the result of a case of protothecosis, due to the achlorophyllic algal organism, Prototheca wickerhamii. This case of protothecosis, involved the skin and mucous membranes of the nose.
