This is a photomicrograph of a slide culture specimen, which revealed some of the ultrastructural morphology exhibited by the fungal organism, Fonsecaea pedrosoi, including one of its phialides, which was topped by its cluster of phialospores. F. pedrosoi is one of the etiologic pathogens responsible for the infection known as chromoblastomycosis.
