Caption:
This photomicrograph of a Gridley stained tissue specimen, reveals some of the histopathology associated with a case of black grain mycetoma, which had been caused by the fungal Madurella mycetomatis. Here, you’re looking at a section that included a phaeoid, or pigmented granule, under a close enough magnification to enable you to make out the presence of numerous filamentous hyphae.
