Caption:
This image depicts a close dorsal view of a patient’s right middle finger, revealing the presence of what turned out to be an extragenital primary syphilitic chancre. The chancre is usually firm, round, small, and painless, appearing at the spot where syphilis entered the body, and lasts 3-6 weeks, healing on its own. If adequate treatment is not administered, the infection progresses to the secondary stage.
