This patient presented with angular lesions of the lips, known as cheilosis, or cheilitis, which had been due to a vitamin B2 deficiency. With a vitamin B2 deficiency, the lips become dry, scaly and swollen, and lesions develop at the corners of the mouth, known as cheilosis. The gums, or gingivae, become inflamed, and have a tendency to bleed easily.
