This was a photomicrograph of a lung tissue specimen, harvested from a caged parrot, that depicted some of the histopathologic changes that had been caused by the fungal organism, Aspergillus fumigatus, in a case of avian pulmonary aspergillosis. Here, you are able see how the methenamine silver stain, revealed A. fumigatus ultrastructural morphology including numerous hyphal strands throughout this tissue section.
