This photograph depicts a patient’s perineum , and left inguinal region, revealing a swelling of the left inguinal lymph nodes, known as lymphadenopathy, or a bubo. The condition was result of a case of chancroid, caused by the Gram-negative bacterium, Haemophilus ducreyi. In this case, the bubo had ruptured through the patient’s overlying inguinal skin.
