This photomicrograph reveals the presence of a number of Clostridium botulinum, type-A bacteria, that had been cultivated in this Gram-stained, thioglycollate broth specimen, having undergone a 48 hour incubation period, at a temperature of 35°C. Note that some of the organisms had entered their endospore phase, assuming the morphological shape of safety pins.
