Captured in 1975, this image was part of a slideshow that was used to familiarize public health inspectors with the unsanitary conditions commonly found inside migrant worker camps. This scenario depicted four female migrant workers in the process of washing clothes, using large receptacles filled with soapy water. It illustrated the importance as to how inspectors must be alert to potential sources of drinking water contamination. Washing clothes, as in this example, should take place well away from potable water sources. An efficient and effective method of disposing of the wastewater should be implemented.
