This image depicts a close view of an 8yr-old Ghanaian male’s perianal region, which exhibited papillomatous lesions that were of one-week in duration, and had been due to a treponemal infection referred to as yaws, the first sign of which, is the appearance of a painless papule that grows into a papilloma. These early granulomatous lesions are highly infectious, and are characterized by a yellow-crusted appearance.
