Captured in 1977, this photograph depicted a laboratorian, who was using an inverted scope in order to check the dilution of an amniotic fluid cell culture. Amniotic fluid may be used in the prenatal diagnosis of aneuploidy, a condition involving the presence of too few, or too many chromosomes, or other chromosomal abnormalities.
