This female patient presented with a case of granuloma inguinale, caused by the bacterium, Calymmatobacterium granulomatis. as well as a coexisting case of secondary syphilis, caused by the bacterium, Treponema pallidum. See PHIL 3485 and 18895, for additional views of this patient's condition. Granuloma inguinale, like syphilis, is also a sexually transmitted disease. It is a slowly progressive ulcerative condition of the skin and lymphatics of the genital, and perianal area.
