Description: | Caption: Captured in 1969, this image depicts the right arm of a 6 month-old boy, who after having received a primary smallpox vaccination, developed toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN). This image represents a closer view of the same infant's right arm depicted in PHIL 3285. He was treated with the synthetic corticosteroid, prednisone, and vaccinia immune globulin (VIG), and hospitalized for 32 days. He lost large areas of skin, but required no skin grafting.
