This photograph depicts a posterior view of this young girl’s back, revealing a pustular rash, which had manifested due to a case of chickenpox, an infectious disease caused by the varicella zoster virus (VZV), also known as Human herpesvirus 3 (HHV-3). The child had presented to New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center.
