This photomicrograph of a Gridley stained splenic tissue specimen, revealed some of the histopathologic changes in a case of splenic histoplasmosis, caused by the fungal organism, Histoplasma capsulatum. Note the many H. capsulatum yeast forms organisms contained within the histiocytes.
