This photomicrograph depicts some of the histopathologic details seen in a canine bone marrow smear, processed using Giemsa stain, in a case of leishmaniasis. In this particular view, you are able to see the presence of the responsible, Leishmania donovani parasites, contained within one of the bone marrow histiocytes.
